WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Join our Waste Resources Management team as a Project Manager and play a pivotal role in delivering waste management planning solutions for a diverse range of clients. We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in municipal waste operations who can effectively manage complex projects and lead teams to success. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a strong ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams, and the capacity to monitor and adjust project scopes to meet client needs. Your ability to problem-solve, drive efficiency, and manage resources effectively will be key to ensuring timely and successful project delivery. JOB DUTIES

  • Develop and oversee comprehensive waste management planning projects, including:

    • Develop Waste Management Plans – Design comprehensive strategies for waste reduction, collection, recycling, and disposal for municipalities, businesses, or industries.

    • Conduct Waste Audits – Assess current waste management practices and identify areas for improvement through waste audits and data analysis.

    • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure waste management practices comply with local, regional, and national regulations, including environmental and health standards.

    • Forecast Waste Trends – Analyze current waste generation patterns and predict future trends, advising clients on capacity planning and resource allocation.

    • Waste Diversion Strategies – Develop and implement strategies to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials, aiming for higher diversion rates from landfills.

    • Sustainability Initiatives – Advise on sustainable waste practices, including organic waste management, composting, and the use of alternative technologies like anaerobic digestion.

    • Technology Evaluation – Assess and recommend new technologies for waste processing, recycling, and recovery to improve efficiency and sustainability.

    • Public Outreach and Education – Lead community outreach programs, educating the public on waste reduction techniques, recycling protocols, and sustainability practices.

    • Budgeting and Cost Estimation – Prepare cost estimates and budgets for waste management projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

    • Collaboration with Stakeholders – Work with government agencies, waste management facilities, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders to implement waste management solutions.

    • Data Management and Reporting – Collect and analyze data related to waste generation, disposal, and recycling rates to inform decision-making and improve waste management programs.

  • Drive project planning and execution, including scheduling, resource allocation, subcontractor management, budgeting, invoicing, and supervising project personnel while maintaining clear communication with clients.

  • Build and nurture client relationships, focusing on client retention and new business acquisition to grow our portfolio.

  • Ensure financial success by managing project revenue, costs, and profitability to deliver outcomes within budget and scope.

  • Uphold health and safety standards for all personnel working on your projects, ensuring a safe working environment.

  • Mentor and develop junior personnel, fostering growth and building a strong, skilled team for continued success.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites and meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A post-secondary education in engineering, science, environmental science, or a related discipline.

  • 5 years of relevant employment experience on developing waste solutions for municipalities, Indigenous communities, and the IC&I sectors and completing annual monitoring and reporting for these sectors.

  • Familiarity with Ontario waste and environmental legislation and regulations and a variety of waste management practices.

  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage several assignments at one time.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Understanding and/or proficiency with sector related computer software and all Microsoft Office products.

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.

  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
