WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Cambium is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Waste Resources Management team. In this exciting role, you’ll work alongside a talented group of technicians/technologists and coordinators, collaborating with clients to ensure regulatory compliance including long-term monitoring of municipal waste disposal sites. If you have a strong background in municipal waste operations and are familiar with contaminant hydrogeology or environmental geoscience, this role is for you!
Reporting to the Group Manager, you’ll manage project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting, ensuring efficient project execution and adherence to scope. You’ll also provide crucial support to clients by offering guidance on monitoring and reporting, facility compliance, and best practices for waste management systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead projects that will make a difference in waste management across communities while utilizing your knowledge of environmental science to drive positive change.
JOB DUTIES
Develop and oversee comprehensive monitoring and reporting programs for groundwater, surface water, and landfill gas to ensure long-term environmental compliance.
Manage a wide range of waste management projects, including the design and operations of landfills, composting, and transfer station facilities. This includes cost estimation, tender preparation, and regulatory reporting.
Lead the permitting process and ensure regulatory compliance by obtaining necessary permits for waste management activities and submitting timely reports to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Drive project planning and execution, including scheduling, resource allocation, subcontractor management, budgeting, invoicing, and supervising project personnel while maintaining clear communication with clients.
Build and nurture client relationships, focusing on client retention and new business acquisition to grow our portfolio.
Ensure financial success by managing project revenue, costs, and profitability to deliver outcomes within budget and scope.
Uphold health and safety standards for all personnel working on your projects, ensuring a safe working environment.
Mentor and develop junior personnel, fostering growth and building a strong, skilled team for continued success.
Willingness to travel to project sites and meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
A post-secondary education in engineering, science, environmental science, or a related discipline. Licensed as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO) would be an asset.
5 years of relevant employment experience on developing waste solutions for municipalities and Indigenous communities and completing annual monitoring and reporting for these sectors.
Familiarity with Ontario waste and environmental legislation and regulations and a variety of waste management practices.
Outstanding organizational, communication, and technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage several assignments at one time.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Understanding and/or proficiency with sector related computer software and all Microsoft Office products.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
