How will the new EASR impact Licensed Engineering Practitioners’ Liability?

On January 31, 2017 the MOECC will implement changes to the environmental approvals regime for air and noise. The new regulation (O.Reg. 1/17) is expected to streamline the approvals process for air and noise emissions from low risk facilities and processes. Eligible facilities and processes will be required to register on the Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR) instead of applying for an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA). Under EASR, significant responsibility for sign-off on the approval has been shifted to licenced engineering practitioners (LEP). This presentation will discuss how this shift will impact LEPs and their exposure to professional liability.
